The Pirates have designated Matt Peterson for assignment in order to make room for Roberto Hernandez. I have no complaints about this decision - Peterson was a complete mess - but now all the Pirates have left from the Kris Benson trade is Jose Bautista, who they pointlessly lost only months before in the Rule 5 draft. Yuck.
