Bucs Offer Two-Year Deal to Mueller

Yuck. Bill Mueller is a pretty good player, but he's 34 and he's been only decent the past two years. I'd put about even money on Freddy Sanchez and Rob Mackowiak outperforming Mueller in 2006, which makes offering him a two-year contract a bad idea. Didn't Dave Littlefield say he wasn't going to spend millions on marginal upgrades?

Elsewhere, MLB.com reports: "Littlefield said Monday that he expects to offer arbitration to RHP Josh Fogg prior to the Dec. 20 non-tendering date."

I'm going to assume that's just gamesmanship. There's no way the Pirates are going to offer Fogg arbitration. Right? Right?
