Washington vs. Pittsburgh, 20 June 2005

Livan Hernandez (9-2, 3.43) vs. Mark Redman (4-4, 2.80). Two pitchers whose peripheral numbers don't match their ERAs meet in this series opener. Hernandez is in the middle of his third consecutive good season, despite the fact that his peripherals are way off from the his last two. Redman has to like his chances here - other than Jose Guillen, all the Nationals' toughest outs are either injured (Jose Vidro) or lefty-hitting (Nick Johnson, Brad Wilkerson, Ryan Church).
