Since being lost in the 2003 Rule 5 draft, Chris Shelton continues to make the Pirates look bad. Here are his numbers this year:
Toledo .331/.417/.569
Detroit .315/.362/.519
Shelton went 3 for 4 with a homer today in the Tigers' 6-2 loss to the Twins. He's just a few days older than Brad Eldred, and he is a better prospect than Eldred at this point. Shelton might be even better if the Pirates had kept him, because he missed large chunks of last year due to the Rule 5 process.
