Arizona Fall League Update

Here are the stats so far for the Pirates' AFL team, the Grand Canyon Rafters.

Catcher Neil Walker is hitting .353/.353/.412 after going 3-for-5 with a double yesterday against Scottsdale.

Infielder Craig Stansberry is hitting .267/.421/.467 with a homer.

First baseman Brad Eldred is hitting what he was born to hit: .250/.286/.500. It's only been a handful of games, but that's a perfectly Eldred-y line.

Reliever Jesse Chavez has pitched four innings while striking out four, walking one and allowing no earned runs. He received the win while pitching a scoreless inning in yesterday's game.

Reliever Josh Shortslef has allowed five hits but only one run in 2.2 innings so far. He has struck out one batter.

Finally, reliever David Davidson has struck out two batters and allowed no walks and runs so far in two innings.

Reliever Brian Rogers is supposed to be with the Rafters, but he hasn't pitched yet.

Overall, the Pirates are doing a fine job so far, but the sample size is obviously tiny. The Rafters play Scottsdale again tonight at 9:05 PM.
