None of the Pirates' hitters are performing especially well, and Brad Eldred hasn't played in about a week. Does anyone know why?
Two Pirates relievers, Jesse Chavez and Brian Rogers have been very good so far, however. Neither has yet allowed a run. Chavez has seven strikeouts so far in 7.2 innings, and Rogers picked up the win in Wednesday's game, throwing two innings while striking out three and walking one.
Of course, Chavez, Rogers are low-wattage propsects, and so are all the other players the Pirates sent, except for Neil Walker. Walker is hitting .265 with little power after going 0-for-2 yesterday.
