This one isn't really for $30 million, as was originally rumored. It's for two years, $18 million, which is still a lot, but Thomas really hasn't lost much yet. He's an enormous injury risk, but he's still likely to be extremely productive if healthy, especially in the first year of the deal. The Jays also get a $10 million option in 2009. In this market, this isn't a horrible deal.
