Kovacevic: Pirates Won't Part With Starters

The Post-Gazette is finally back with a bunch of hot-stove information. The P-G reports, for example, that the Pirates probably won't trade any of their starting pitching. This suggests that they're also unlikely to acquire some of the potential trade targets mentioned in the article, like Adam Dunn and Brad Hawpe (although, given Reds GM Wayne Krivsky's reliever fetish, I guess one never knows).

The P-G also has another article up that suggests that Jesse Chavez is not eligible for the Rule 5 draft, and that Wardell Starling is. The team feels that, based on Starling's performance in the Hawaii Winter League, they're not likely to lose him, but I think they're wrong about that - he's still a pretty advanced pitcher with some upside.
