Community Projection: Ryan Doumit

UPDATE: The Doumit projections are now closed.

Here's the last projection for an offensive starter. Next up are the starting pitchers. After those are done, we can do Humberto Cota (who may end up playing at least as much as Doumit, depending on how injured Doumit gets or how stupid Jim Tracy gets) and Craig Wilson, whose projections may unfortunately be fraught with sample-size problems.

Anyway, Doumit is another tough one because his performance record is so strange. He actually didn't play much in the minors because he was hurt so often, but when he did he generally hit well, particularly in Class AAA last year. Will he start to show power in the bigs? Let me know in the comments by predicting his 2006 batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. A games-played projection might be a good idea too.

Here are Doumit's major- and minor-league stats.

Here are the results so far:

PLAYER POS. COMMUNITY ZiPS
Sean Casey 1B .300/.361/.446 .313/.373/.441
Jose Castillo 2B .275/.322/.441 .277/.325/.394
Jack Wilson SS .274/.316/.386 .272/.314/.395
Jason Bay LF .298/.403/.547 .297/.395/.557
Chris Duffy CF .278/.331/.395 .287/.338/.384
Jeromy Burnitz RF .246/.317/.439 .240/.311/.412

Despite a relatively wide range of responses, the community projection for Jack Wilson is just about exactly the same as ZiPS'.

Don't forget to weigh in on Joe Randa.
