Ryan Doumit has been placed on the 15-day DL; Ronny Paulino has been called up from Indianapolis.
Humberto Cota is off to a horrid start, not hitting at all and not even really playing very good defense. Paulino is a highly regarded defender and a better hitter than Cota. Paulino is also relatively young and potentially has a future with the team. The Bucs should use this opportunity to get as much playing time for Paulino as possible. They didn't do this with Doumit when he was healthy, though, so I don't have high hopes they'll play Paulino much.
