The Nuttings have officially taken control of the Bucs.
McClatchy will stay in the ownership group as the team's chief executive partner, but he will shed the title of managing general partner. McClatchy will remain responsible for running the team's day-to-day operations. In a press release, the Pirates described Nutting's role as providing "strategic leadership for the organization," but provided no details. The move is pending the approval of Major League Baseball's owners, who will vote on it Thursday during their scheduled meetings in Arizona.
Obviously, it's unlikely this will help the fans in any way whatsoever.
