Jose Hernandez has agreed to a minor league deal with the Bucs. Since it's a minor league deal, I guess I can't be too upset, and Hernandez actually isn't totally useless, but it seems like the last thing on Dave Littlefield's mind should be the acquisition of yet another middle infielder. Also, there's the fact that this signing is as utterly unsurprising as it is uninspiring. The Pirates, under Jim Tracy, seem to be less a major league baseball team than an excuse for his old pals to have a reunion. Really - Hernandez? Mike Edwards? Franquelis Osoria? Are any of these players really necessary?
