The Mariners have signed Chris Reitsma to what is, in effect, a one-year deal worth about $2 million, with an option for 2008.
$2 million is, of course, a drop in the bucket, but Reitsma has never been an especially good reliever, and he's coming off a year in which he pitched horribly and spent much of the year on the DL with bone spurs in his elbow, plus resultant hand numbness. I wouldn't count on much from him if I were the M's.
