-P- The Brewers have declined Corey Koskie's $6.5 million option. They'll pay him a $500,000 buyout. This was no surprise - Koskie was injury-prone to begin with and missed the entire 2007 season with a concussion. He was pretty good when he played with the Brewers in 2006, but at age 34, he could be done.

-P- The Royals are set to hire Trey Hillman as their next manager. This is an unusual hire, since Hillman has never been in the big leagues, as a player, coach or manager. However, he's currently the manager of the Nippon Ham Fighters, and they're attempting to defend their championship starting in late October.

-P- Cheers to Dejan Kovacevic (scroll down to Myron Cope's letter).
