Alay Soler Likely to Sign with Bucs

New York Daily News:

Alay Soler is expected to sign with the Pirates, though he's likely ticketed for the minors.

Soler is a Cuban pitcher who played in the Mets organization last year. He made quick work of Classes A and AA, but struggled in Class AAA and the majors. 2006 was his first year of U.S. baseball, he can start, he's only 27/"27" and he has a good slider, so there may be upside here if the Pirates are willing to be more patient with him than the Mets were. I'd really like this signing if the Pirates did it.
