The Pirates have officially signed Cuban pitcher Alay Soler to a minor-league deal. Soler will probably join a very crowded Indianapolis pitching staff, but he may be as young as 27 and still may need some time to adjust to U.S. pro baseball. He pitched very well in Classes A and AA last year and he has good stuff, so there's a decent chance he'll eventually help the Bucs. It looks like the Mets were hasty in releasing him. This is a very good, low-risk signing.
Here are Soler's stats.
