Matt Morris (7-7, 4.41) vs. Russ Ortiz (2-2, 5.40). Morris returns to the Bay to face his old team, who aren't too happy with him for his implying after being traded that they didn't play hard.
A couple quick notes:
-P- Cheers to Rick Ankiel for making it back to the majors as an outfielder. Ankiel last played in the majors in 2004 and last played really well there in 2000, when he was 20. He somehow managed to hit 32 homers at Class AAA Memphis this year despite a .314 OBP.
-P- A pair of minor moves by the Orioles (trading reliever John Parrish for a minor leaguer and dumping Chris Gomez) has paved the way for Tike Redman to return to the majors. Redman had been hitting .300/.370/.403 for Class AAA Norfolk.
-P- The Giants and Dodgers have completed their first trade in over twenty years, with the Giants sending aging but still useful pitch hitter Mark Sweeney to L.A. for a player to be named.
