The Bucs have signed Hector Carrasco, Casey Fossum, and Jaret Wright to minor-league deals. These signings improve the Pirates' lack of pitching depth, but only a little. All three can start, and Carrasco and Wright were useful in the big leagues as recently as 2006. Carrasco was actually downright good in both 2005 and 2006. He's 38 now, so his bad year in 2007 could mean he's done, but maybe not. Wright dealt with a shoulder injury last year and actually thought it might end his career, so he's probably not going to help this year.
