Dejan Kovacevic reports that Brandon Webb is receptive to the Pirates' interest in signing him:
"The Pirates are an organization that Brandon and I have a lot of respect for, especially for the GM," agent Jonathan Maurer said, referring to general manager Neal Huntington. "But they're also one of a number of teams that are interested."
That quote is going to puzzle a lot of Pirates fans, that's for sure. Kovacevic reports that Webb hit 85 MPH in a workout the Bucs attended two months ago, and says Webb's agent claims his client will be completely healthy by the beginning of Spring Training. Much depends on Webb's health, obviously, but it would be exciting to have a pitcher with his upside.
