Pirates Name New Minor League Managers

The Pirates have announced a bunch of minor-league managerial hires. Dean Treanor, who had been the pitching coach at Indianapolis, becomes the team's manager. P.J. Forbes moves up from Bradenton's managerial position to Altoona's, where he replaces Matt Walbeck. Carlos Garcia, who previously had been named the Pirates' first-base coach, will manage at Bradenton.

Gary Robinson moves up from State College to West Virginia. Dave Turgeon, the Spikes' new manager, spent the last several years coaching at Virginia Tech, but previously managed the Mahoning Valley team in the Spikes' New York - Penn League. Tom Prince stays on as manager of the Pirates' Gulf Coast League team. Also, Brad Fischer, who managed the Spikes in 2008 and served as the Brewers' third-base coach last year, returns to the organization as an advisor to the player development staff.
