The Pirates have promoted Pedro Alvarez, Colin Dunlap reports, so we should see him tomorrow.
More on Alvarez, from yesterday, can be found here. In short, I wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to see him promoted, but this should be a lot of fun. He probably won't hit for much of an average right away, and he sometimes takes awhile to adjust before he thrives at a new level, but he instantly becomes one of the Pirates' three most productive hitters. Which obviously isn't saying a whole lot, but he'll clearly be a nice boost to the offense.
Someone will have to be cleared from the 40-man roster to make room--Akinori Iwamura, probably?
