I had to leave before the game ended last night, but as I did I thought this: an unsung hero of that game, for me, was D.J. Carrasco, even though he easily could have taken the loss. Ross Ohlendorf couldn't do much of anything and had to leave in the second inning, and the Pirates were lucky to have a reliever who could capably get them through to the middle innings without much of a problem. The Bucs are really lucky to have gotten him on a cheap minor league deal.

Beyond that, it was a really good game all around. Erik Kratz got his first big league hit, run and RBI, and everyone in the starting nine except Ohlendorf reached base at least twice. I groaned a little once the Pirates gave back the three-run lead they'd built in the first inning, but they surprised me by continuing to hit for the rest of the game.
