Yesterday wasn't a hugely interesting day in the minors, but it's been nice to see various 2010 draft picks start to make their mark. Fourth-round pick Nick Kingham made his pro debut yesterday in the Gulf Coast League. He struck out two batters in two innings and allowed no runs, but he also allowed three hits. 11th-rounder Dan Grovatt made his pro debut in the GCL too, and went 0-for-5. It was 23rd-rounder and big bonus recipient Jared Lakind's second pro game, and he went 0-for-4. 12th-rounder Vincent Payne pitched three scoreless innings at the start of the game.
For State College, 9th-rounder Brandon Cumpton breezed through his first pro start, striking out five and walking one in three innings.
Nothing earthshaking, but it's fun to have new reasons to check the box scores.
