Frank Coonelly: Jameson Taillon, Stetson Allie Could Start Season In West Virginia

Frank Coonelly was recently in Charleston to discuss the Pirates and the West Virginia Power, and he said that both Jameson Taillon and Stetson Allie could open 2011 in West Virginia:

"While no decisions have been made, Jameson Taillon and Stetson Allie have a good opportunity to start their professional careers here in West Virginia," Coonelly said at the Pirates Winter Warm-up Caravan, which stopped at the Charleston YMCA on Sunday. "That should be exciting for the Charleston fans. We're very excited about them."

I suppose this could mean that a player like Allie could start the year in extended spring training and then make his way to West Virginia by, say, June, but he probably means that both Taillon and Allie could be with West Virginia beginning in April. Regarding Taillon, that doesn't surprise me at all, since he's fairly polished for a high school draftee. Allie really isn't, though, so I figured he would probably begin the year at State College, particularly given that there will be a million pitching prospects in West Virginia at the start of the season.

The article also reports that Luis Heredia could be at West Virginia by 2012.
