Here's a look at the highlights of the Pirates' affiliates' games on Saturday:
Justin Wilson allowed two runs in six innings while striking out six and walking four in his Class AAA debut. Given Wilson's proclivities for posting lots of strikeouts and walks, that's about what I would have expected. Alex Presley went 2-for-4 with a triple, a homer and a walk, but Indianapolis lost, 8-7.
Altoona beat Erie, 6-2, and Starling Marte went 4-for-5 with a double.
Charlotte beat Bradenton 14-1 ... so there's that. Quinton Miller allowed 10 runs in 3.1 innings, and then Eliecer Navarro came in and struggled as well. Only one of the 11 hits against Miller was for extra bases, and that was a double, so it sounds like part of this was a perfect storm, but this is the kind of ugly outing that can loom over a pitcher's statistical profile for a month or more, so this wasn't a pleasant introduction to Class A+ for Miller.
Savannah and West Virginia were rained out.
