Pirates 6, Tigers 2: Kevin Correia Latest Pirate Starter To Pitch Well

The Pirates pieced together three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to defeat the Tigers 6-2, bringing them back to within one game of .500. The game wasn't broadcast on TV, but let me see what I can put together.

The Tigers scored first on RBI doubles by Miguel Cabrera and Brennan Boesch in the fourth, but Kevin Correia, in the latest strong outing for a Bucs starter, managed to stick around for 6.2 innings while allowing only those two runs. He struck out four and walked none.

The Bucs scored their first run in the sixth when Garrett Jones hit a ground-rule double with Jose Tabata on first and Andrew McCutchen on second. Sacrifice flies by Neil Walker and Lyle Overbay then brought home two more runs to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

In the seventh, Matt Diaz singled in two runs, then got in a rundown that allowed Tabata to score from third.
