Josh Harrison picked up his first two major-league hits Tuesday night as the Pirates defeated the Mets 5-1. R.A. Dickey shut down the Bucs for seven innings and had 10 strikeouts total, but Harrison's second hit, a line-drive single in the eighth inning, tied the game at one, with Harrison visibly elated when he was called safe at second (after the throw went to third base). Then Neil Walker hit a two-run single up the middle, bringing home Jose Tabata and Harrison, to make it 3-1. Brandon Wood hit a two-run single in the ninth.
James McDonald had five strikeouts while allowing one run in six innings, and Evan Meek, Jose Veras and Joel Hanrahan pitched scoreless innings of relief.
Good for McDonald, and good for Harrison - let's hope we see a lot more of him in the next couple weeks.
