The Pirates have selected Tyler Glasnow, a California high school pitcher who has a commitment to the University of Portland, in the fifth round. He's 6-foot-7 and extremely thin, and he apparently has size-17 shoes and doesn't shave yet, so the Bucs probably hope he fills out. He can touch 94 MPH. He's 17. Projectability!
Auburn third baseman Dan Gamache is the Pirates sixth-round pick. I can't find out much about him, so he doesn't appear to be a huge prospect.
The Pirates take Georgia high school pitcher Jake Burnette in the seventh round. His coach projected he'd go between the 15th and 20th rounds. He has a commitment to Georgia Tech.
In the eighth round - and I'm beginning to detect a pattern here - the Pirates picked Jason Creasy, a high school pitcher, this time out of North Carolina. He appears to have a commitment to NC State. Here's some video. It seems like the Pirates are following very much the same script they stuck to in the last two drafts, using several rounds after the first three to go crazy with high school pitching.
... Another high school pitcher in the ninth round. This time it's Clay Holmes from Alabama. Baseball America ranks him the No. 140 draft prospect. He has a commitment to Auburn.
Vlad already wrote about Taylor Lewis, a center fielder out of the University of Maine and the Pirates' 10th-round pick.
Here's some video of 11th-round pick Jo-El Bennett-Lowe, a high school center fielder from Alabama. He looks slender, but he appears to have a strong arm, and a great name. (He's also known simply as Jo-El Bennett.) He has a commitment to Troy University.
I can't find much information about 12th-round Candon Myles, but he appears to play football in addition to baseball, and was his high school team's leadoff hitter. I'm not yet sure where he's committed.
