Pirates hire Jay Bell as hitting coach

The Pirates have named Jay Bell their new hitting coach, and have added Dave Jauss and Rick Sofield to the major league coaching staff.

Pirates Prospects is reporting that the Pirates have named Jay Bell their new hitting coach. They've also named Dave Jauss and Rick Sofield to the major league coaching staff, with Sofield replacing Luis Silverio as first base coach. Silverio will become Senior Advisor to Latin American operations.
