Pirates Lose, Tie In Split-Squad Games

Some notes from today's split-squad games, which, as expected, involved a bunch of minor-leaguers:

-P- Kevin Correia gave up 10 runs in 2.1 innings as the Bucs lost, 15-3, to the Twins. Correia allowed 12 hits, including a homer to our old friend Ryan Doumit. Relievers Dan McCutchen and Tim Wood didn't fare particularly well, either. Pedro Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout. Matt Hague hit his sixth home run. Minor-leaguers involved: Miles Durham, Junior Sosa, Matt McSwain (1.2 scoreless innings), Anthony Norman (1-for-1 with a triple), Ryan Beckman. Beckman came in and pitched two-thirds of an inning because Juan Cruz got hit in the forearm and was removed from the game for precautionary reasons.

-P- The Pirates and Orioles tied 6-6 in the Bucs' last home Spring Training game. Alex Presley and Garrett Jones homered. Erik Bedard allowed four runs in five innings, including back-to-back homers by Ronny Paulino and Jai Miller. (Former Pirates catchers really had their way with the Pirates today, apparently.) Minor-leaguers: Andy Vasquez, Jose Diaz, Dan Grovatt, Ashley Ponce, Kris Watts, Benji Gonzalez, Adalberto Santos, Kris Harvey.
