Yankees Vs. Pirates, 6 March 2012

A few notes while we wait for the game to start here in a couple hours.

-P- The Bucs host the Yankees today at 1:05. Here's the Bucs' lineup, and here's the Yankees'. The game will be webcast here.

-P- Dejan Kovacevic writes that it's no longer accurate to say that the Pirates are cheap.

-P- There have been long-term contract talks between the Pirates and Neil Walker, but they haven't "gone very far," Walker says.

-P- The Bucs beat the Orioles yesterday 10-3. Those 10 runs included a homer by Matt Hague on a knee-high fastball. Alex Presley and Starling Marte each went 3-for-3, and Yamaico Navarro went 2-for-3. Pirates pitchers struck out nine batters and walked two, which is nice to see. Also, Evan Chambers and Quincy Latimore came up from minor-league camp and got a couple at-bats each -- Latimore went 2-for-2 in his. Pat has notes from the game.

-P- Here's a new Pirates blog, 1992 And Counting.
