Rockies Vs. Pirates, 25 April 2012: Game 2

This is the thread for the second game of the double-header. Jhoulys Chacin faces Charlie Morton.

James McDonald's six no-hit innings weren't enough as the Pirates lost in the first game, 2-1. McDonald gave up a run in the top of the seventh when he walked Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki hit a ball that bounced off the glove of a diving Pedro Alvarez for an infield single. Jason Giambi then brought home Gonzalez with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the inning, Alvarez hammered a changeup to right center for his third home run of the year, tying the game at one. In the eighth, though, Chris Resop allowed a hit by pitch and then a single, and Tony Watson relieved Resop and gave up a sacrifice fly to Tyler Colvin to put the Rockies ahead 2-1. Esmil Rogers struck out the side in the bottom half of the eighth, and the Bucs went down in order in the ninth as well.

The Bucs had a bunch of hits, often of the infield-single variety, but they couldn't string them together into runs. Alex Presley getting caught stealing just before Andrew McCutchen's double in the first didn't help.

Lineup for the second game:

Alex Presley LF
Nate McLouth RF
Andrew McCutchen CF
Garrett Jones 1B
Pedro Alvarez 3B
Yamaico Navarro 2B
Clint Barmes SS
Rod Barajas C
Charlie Morton P
