Minor Leagues: Jameson Taillon To Pitch For Bradenton

New, 10 comments

Interesting things keep happening in the minors, so I'll keep posting threads. Tonight, Jameson Taillon makes his first start of the 2012 season.

-P- At 6:00, Brandon Cumpton starts for Altoona against the Erie Seawolves (Tigers). Cumpton was already a prospect even before throwing 96 MPH in camp.

-P- Also at 6:00, Jeff Locke takes the ball for Indianapolis against the Toledo Mud Hens (also the Tigers). It will be interesting to track Locke's progress this year. On a recent podcast, I mentioned that in Locke's starts for the Pirates late last season, he showed such weak stuff and command that it's easy to forget that last year was, overall, a decent season for him. He looks like he still needs more seasoning, but he's very much still worth our attention, since he's left-handed and only 24.

-P- At 6:30, Jameson Taillon will make his Bradenton Marauders debut against the St. Lucie Mets.

-P- At 7:05, Zac Fuesser starts for West Virginia against 2011 No. 23 overall pick Alex Meyer, who's making his pro debut for Hagerstown (Nationals).

UPDATE from David: Stetson Allie has been removed from the West Virginia Power roster, but it is only a paper move as the Power are short arms at the moment. Allie has not left the club and gone to extended spring training as some have reported. Certainly his performance last night might have raised some questions, but the plan is to re-roster him in a few days.
