The Pirates have sent Alex Presley to Indianapolis and recalled Evan Meek. The Pirates would have been operating with a short 'pen due to Brad Lincoln's spot start. They'll probably send Meek back down in a couple days, then recall Jake Fox for the interleague series in Detroit.

Presley certainly played his way out of a starting job pretty quickly. I can't say I'm particularly upset about his demotion; he was really getting dominated out there, with just four walks so far and a .220 average that was fueled by a bunch of infield singles. You can claim that it's unjust that he's the first to go, with several players on the team who have actually hit even worse, but oh well.

The Pirates' lineup:

Jose Tabata RF
Neil Walker 2B
Andrew McCutchen CF
Casey McGehee 1B
Yamaico Navarro LF
Rod Barajas C
Clint Barmes SS
Josh Harrison 3B
Erik Bedard P

Pedro Alvarez gets a rest against Gio Gonzalez.

Nationals:

Ian Desmond SS
Bryce Harper CF
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Adam LaRoche 1B
Xavier Nady RF
Danny Espinosa 2B
Tyler Moore LF
Jesus Flores C
Gio Gonzalez P

Poll

If the PIrates do recall Jake Fox later this week, they will have to make a corresponding move to the 40-man roster. Who would you designate for assignment?
