Three games on Monday, with Altoona off:
-P- Good Justin Wilson showed up tonight, throwing seven shutout innings as Indianapolis dismantled Rochester, 16-0. Wilson allowed three hits and walked nobody while fanning six. He threw 70 of 104 pitches for strikes. Evan Meek pitched the last two innings, walking two and striking out one. Everybody who played for the Indians, including three subs, had at least one hit except for Chase d'Arnaud. Starling Marte went 3-5 with a double and a triple. Yamaico Navarro, who's hitting .333 in AAA, went 2-3 with a walk and two doubles. Brandon Boggs went 3-4 with a double.
-P- Bradenton got hammered again by Jupiter and Marcell Ozuna, 10-5. A day after torching Marauders pitching for three HRs and six RBIs, Ozuna hit two more HRs and drove in another six. Eliecer Navarro, making a spot start, allowed four runs, three earned, in 5.2 IP. He was followed by two recent signees, as the Pirates are having to bring in pitchers from outside the organization to shore up their struggling lower level staffs. The first of the two, Kenn Kasparek, got lit up for six runs in 2.1 IP. The other, Doug Salinas, managed a scoreless inning. Minor league veteran Stefan Welch went 2-4 with his eighth HR and Gift Ngoepe went 2-5.
-P- The unrelenting tale of woe that is the Pirates' projectable prep pitcher strategy continued in West Virginia's 6-4 loss to Lexington as Zack von Rosenberg got pummeled for six runs in four innings. He allowed eight hits and three walks while fanning four. Zac Fuesser followed with four scoreless innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out four. Gregory Polanco and Dan Gamache each went 2-4 with a double.
