Altoona was rained out, so there were just three games on Tuesday:
-P- Indianapolis got seven shutout innings from Rick VandenHurk in a 2-0 win over Rochester. VandenHurk allowed five hits and a walk, and fanned five. His ERA with the Indians is now 1.14. Chris Leroux and Tim Wood each added an inning. Leroux allowed one baserunner, on a hit batsman. Indy had only three hits, but drew seven walks. Starling Marte went 1-3 with a walk.
-P- Bradenton lost to Ft. Myers, 5-3. Colton Cain allowed all five runs in a 1st inning that culminated with a grand slam. He pitched three innings after that, facing just nine hitters with the help of one double play. He allowed four hits and a walk, and fanned one, in his four innings. Jason Townsend followed with three scoreless innings. The Marauders had nine hits, seven of them by Gift Ngoepe and Dan Grovatt. Ngoepe went 4-5 with a double and Grovatt went 3-4 with a double.
-P- West Virginia beat Lexington, 9-7. Willy Garcia went 3-4 with his 9th HR and three RBIs. Alen Hanson went 2-4 with a double, a walk, a steal and his 25th error. Nick Kingham started, but failed to get out of the 5th inning. He went four and a third, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks, striking out two. Rinku Singh got the win, going 2.2 IP and allowing two unearned runs. The two unrelated Kilcreases, Robbie and Nathan--the only two Kilcreases ever to play pro ball--each threw an inning.
