There was baseball today! Except for Altoona . . .
-P- Indianapolis whupped Syracuse and some guy named Duke, 4-3. Jeff Clement went 2-2 with his 7th HR, a walk, and three RBIs, while Casey McGehee had one of his better days this season. Starling Marte went 2-2 with a triple and a walk, and got removed from the game for as-yet unknown reasons. Jake Fox went 2-4 with a double. #FreeRudyOwens didn't put up great peripherals, but he allowed just two runs over six innings on five hits, including a HR, and three walks, with two Ks. Evan Meek gave up a run in two innings.
-P- The McKechnie winds were blowing all the way to Brevard County as the Marauders pounded out 21 hits in a 14-7 blowout. Alex Dickerson's missing power made an appearance, as Dickerson went 5-6 with a double, his third and fourth HRs, and six RBIs. Stefan Welch went 4-6 with a triple, Justin Howard 3-5 with a double and Benji Gonzalez 3-5 with a triple. Gift Ngoepe and Mel Rojas, Jr., were really, really, really po'd about not being in the lineup. Tyler Waldron broke a string of several good starts by getting bombed, allowing seven runs, all earned, in four innings. Porfirio Lopez followed with four perfect innings in relief, with four Ks.
-P- West Virginia went ahead early 5-1 and held on for a 5-4 win. Carlos Mesa and Gregory Polanco each went 2-5, and Francisco Diaz 2-3. Alen Hanson went 0-4 with two Ks and a walk, making him 0-9 with six Ks in his last two games. Matt Benedict started and allowed three runs, two earned, over 5.2 IP. Rinku Singh allowed an unearned run in 2.1 IP, and recent acquisition Nathan Kilcrease threw a scoreless 9th for the save.
