2012 All-Star Game: N.L. Wins Easily, 8-0

Presswire

The N.L. defeated the A.L. in an 8-0 blowout, clinching home-field advantage for the Pirates in the World Series. Pablo Sandoval had a bases-clearing triple (yes, that's right) as part of a five-run first inning against Justin Verlander, and Melky Cabrera's two-run homer keyed a three-run fourth off Matt Harrison.

Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-2 with a single to left and a groundout. Joel Hanrahan pitched to one batter in the ninth, getting a strikeout. He was regularly hitting 98 MPH, which I don't recall him doing in quite a while, so maybe the gun there was a bit different.

The play I liked the most was Bryce Harper badly losing a fly ball in left field and having it drop about five feet behind him. He also tagged up from first to second on a fly ball, and got caught in a rundown later in the inning. For good and bad, usually in the same game, Harper continues to be just about the most entertaining player in baseball right now.
