Pirates' Minor League Roundup: Eliecer Navarro Throws a Seven-Inning Shutout; Clay Holmes Is Wild

Light action on Sunday, as West Virginia and the three rookie level teams were off.

-P- Indianapolis edged Columbus, 5-4. Brock Holt and Jose Tabata each went 3-5, with Tabata adding a double. Yamaico Navarro went 2-4 with his 8th HR. Matt Hague went 2-5 and Tony Sanchez went 1-3 with two walks. Daniel Cabrera allowed three runs over six innings.

-P- Altoona beat Trenton, 8-3. Adalberto Santos and Jarek Cunningham each went 3-4. Santos had a double and Cunningham a triple. Oscar Tejeda and Matt Curry each went 2-4, both of Tejeda's hits being doubles. Brandon Cumpton gave up three runs in 5.2 IP.

-P- Bradenton split a doubleheader with Palm Beach. The Marauders took game one 3-0, as Eliecer Navarro threw a complete game, seven-inning shutout. He allowed three hits and a walk, and fanned four. Alex Dickerson went 3-4 with a double and Dan Grovatt went 2-4 with a double. Bradenton dropped game two, 3-2. Justin Howard went 3-3 with a double.

-P- State College lost to Jamestown, 6-1, as Clay Holmes had a control meltdown. He lasted only an inning and a third and walked five. He allowed three runs and two hits, and fanned one. Jo-Jo Reyes made a rehab appearance and allowed a run in two innings. The offense had only four hits.
