Very little action on Monday. All of the full-season teams were off except for West Virginia, State College is off for the NYPL All-Star break, and the GCL Pirates had their game suspended with two outs in the top of the 9th, with the Yankees just having taken a 7-6 lead.
-P- West Virginia came back from an early 5-0 deficit to beat Greensboro, 9-6. Zack von Rosenberg got hammered for the third straight start, getting knocked out after three and a third. He gave up five runs on five hits and three walks, and fanned one. Orlando Castro got the win by pitching three shutout innings in relief, fanning four. With Gregory Polanco and Alen Hanson still out, the bottom of the order did most of the damage. Eric Avila went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBIs, Francisco Diaz went 2-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Chris Lashmet went 2-3.
-P- The DSL Pirates1 stomped the Rangers, 10-3. Omar Basulto fanned five in two innings of relief. Basulto is a 6'3" lefthander from Mexico who'll turn 19 in another ten days. This is his first pro season if you don't count four innings last year and he's putting up very strong numbers, pitching strictly in relief. Daniel Arribas went 3-5 with a double, Ulises Montilla went 2-5 with two doubles, and Maximo Rivera went 2-5 with a double. Rivera is now hitting .370.
-P- There's no information available from the game between the DSL Pirates2 and the Yankees1.
