Pirates' Minor League Roundup: Big Days for Brock Holt and Kyle Kaminska

A full slate on Friday . . .

-P- Indianapolis scored four in the 2nd and hung on to beat Rochester, 4-3. Brock Holt was the offensive star, going 3-5 with a double and his 1st AAA HR, a three-run shot. Holt played short, with Chase d'Arnaud at second, which probably says something about d'Arnaud's current status. Holt is hitting .410 since his promotion. Dallas McPherson went 2-4 with a double. Chris Leroux had his weakest outing since moving to the Indians' rotation, allowing the three runs on eight hits and two walks in five innings, with five Ks. Evan Meek fanned four in two scoreless innings of relief, Bryan Morris two in one inning.

-P- Altoona dropped a 3-2 game to New Hampshire. Tyler Waldron allowed just one run in five innings. Kris Harvey lost it in relief. Tim Alderson pitched a 1-2-3 inning, fanning two. Adalberto Santos went 2-4.

-P- Bradenton beat Jupiter, 4-1, behind six hitless innings from Kyle Kaminska, who was acquired in the Gaby Sanchez deal. Kaminska walked one and fanned five. Before you get excited, keep in mind that Kaminska spent parts of 2010-11 in high A and spent most of this year, before the trade, in AA. Quinton Miller allowed the first hit, and only run, in relief. Andy Vasquez, Alex Dickerson and Gift Ngoepe all went 2-4. Vasquez had a double and his 4th HR, while Dickerson hit his 12th HR.

-P- West Virginia lost to Kannapolis, 7-6, in 11 innings. The Power took a two run lead in the 10th on a two-run HR by Eric Avila, his 6th. Nathan Kilcrease, however, gave up a two-run HR in the bottom half, then lost the game in the 11th on a two-out infield hit. Zac Fuesser started and allowed four runs in 4.1 IP. Orlando Castro threw three and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief, fanning four. Dan Gamache and Jose Osuna each went 2-5, with Osuna adding his 33rd double. Junior Sosa went 3-5. Gregory Polanco is still out and Alen Hanson sat out the game.

-P- State College lost to Auburn, 1-0. Adrian Sampson allowed just an unearned run in 4.2 IP. He gave up three hits and two walks, and fanned four. Jesus Vasquez went 2-4.

-P- The GCL Pirates hammered the Tigers, 7-1. Six different Bucs had two hits, including Andrew Lambo, who added a double and a walk. Max Moroff went 2-5 and is now hitting .321. Aaron Pribanic, still on assignment from Altoona, started the game. David Jagoditsh and Bryton Trepagnier combined to strike out eight in five innings.

-P- No box score yet for the DSL Pirates1.

-P- The DSL Pirates2 lost to the Nationals, 4-3, in 11 innings. Edgardo Munoz went 3-6 with a double and Angelo Del Castillo went 2-3 with a triple.
