West Virginia was off on Tuesday, and several other affiliates wish they had been . . . .
-P- Indianapolis got demolished by Charlotte, 12-2. Daniel Cabrera walked a bunch of guys and gave up a bunch of runs. Evan Meek relieved with the bases loaded and let everybody score, plus two more of his own, while recording just two outs. Bryan Morris gave up three runs, two earned, in two innings. He's now allowed runs in seven of his last nine appearances. Jose Tabata went 2-4 with a double is is now hitting .317 in AAA. #FreedBrockHolt made his AAA debut playing second and went 1-3 with a walk.
-P- Altoona gave up seven runs in the 3rd inning, then battled back to tie Bowie in the 9th on a two-out, two-run double by Ramon Cabrera, but lost in the 10th anyway, 9-8. Brandon Cumpton started and allowed six of the seven 3rd-inning runs in an inning that featured three hits, three walks, a hit batter and two errors. Kris Harvey relieved with the bases loaded and let them all score. Drew Maggi, who appears to be the new AA shortstop, went 3-5. Cabrera and Stefan Welch each went 2-4. Quincy Latimore hit his 14th HR.
-P- Bradenton spared itself the drama and just got pummeled by a different Charlotte team, 8-1. Eliecer Navarro got hammered, Quinton Miller got hammered, and the offense had only five hits.
-P- State College avoided the widespread malaise because the Spikes have Clay Holmes, who threw one-hit ball over five innings for the fourth time in his last eight starts. He walked two and fanned three, and now has an ERA of 0.83. Holmes left with a 2-0 lead, which the bullpen immediately coughed up, but the Spikes won in the 10th, 4-2, scoring both runs on wild pitches. Walker Gourley, D.J. Crumlich and Jodaneli Carvajal each had two hits, and Chris Diaz hit his first pro HR.
-P- The GCL Pirates beat the Tigers, 6-3. Stetson Allie went 2-4 with a walk and his 3rd HR. Eric Wood went 2-4; Jonathan Schwind, who's on rehab, went 2-2 with a walk; Kevin Ross went 2-5 with a double; and Andrew Lambo hit his first rehab HR. Dovydas Neverauskas started and allowed two runs in three innings. Martires Cadet threw two scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit and fanning three. Cadet is a LH reliever who has a 1.48 ERA, a WHIP below 1.00 and 30 Ks in 24.1 IP, but I'm not sure whether he's a prospect or just a guy who throws a lot of changeups.
-P- No box score is available for the DSL Pirates1.
-P- The DSL Pirates2 lost to the Phillies, 4-2. Carlos Ozuna went 2-4 with two doubles. Julio Perez hit his 3rd HR.
