Blue Jays re-claim Chad Beck, Pirates shuffle minor-league coaches

Brad White

-P- The Blue Jays have re-claimed Chad Beck after the Pirates claimed him and tried to sneak him through waivers. The Jays, of course, did the same thing with catcher Brian Jeroloman last year. There's probably no franchise in baseball more active with waiver claims than the Blue Jays. You cannot steal their players and sneak them through waivers. It simply cannot happen. Alex Anthopolous is to the waiver wire as a grizzly bear is to her young.

-P- The Pirates have announced a variety of minor-league coaching changes. Dean Treanor will stay at Indianapolis. Carlos Garcia will move up from Bradenton to manage Altoona, replacing P.J. Forbes, who is out of the organization. Frank Kremblas will manage at Bradenton. Minor-league veteran Michael Ryan will make his managerial debut at Class A West Virginia, replacing Rick Sofield, who will now be the Pirates' first-base coach. Dave Turgeon will make the lateral move from State College to Jamestown. And longtime Bucs minor-league catcher Milver Reyes will coach the GCL team.
