Twins officially get Duke Welker in Justin Morneau trade

The Pirates have announced that Duke Welker is the player to be named in the Justin Morneau trade, so Welker heads to Minnesota along with Alex Presley.

We already knew that Welker was the PTBNL, so this comes as no surprise. The Pirates are losing another hard-throwing reliever, but Welker is already 27 and still hadn't stuck in the big leagues. If Welker didn't take a step forward, he probably would have been a DFA candidate at some point in the next year or so anyway.
