The Pirates have cut Tony Sanchez and Andy Oliver, sending them to Indianapolis, and there are 49 players left in major-league camp.
Neither cut comes as a surprise. With Russell Martin and Michael McKenry expected to be the Pirates' catchers, there's no room for Sanchez, who will head back to Indianapolis for another year there, although he'll likely fill in as the Pirates' backup catcher if either Martin or McKenry get hurt. And Oliver, who walked 88 batters in 118 innings in Triple A last year, shouldn't be anywhere near a big-league roster right now. He also walked six batters in 3.1 innings in spring training.
