Kyle McPherson struggled again in his most recent spring training start, allowing three home runs (to Shelley Duncan, Ben Zobrist and Evan Longoria) as the Rays beat the Pirates, 6-2.
The Pirates didn't do much offensively, either, getting just eight hits, including two doubles. And the three available relief innings went to Vin Mazzaro and then two guys (Brooks Brown and Kris Johnson) who aren't even in camp anymore, so there isn't much to talk about on any of these fronts.
At this point, it would be a great shock if McPherson made the team -- not that the other candidates for the back of the rotation have been much better.
