The NY-Penn League has officially announced it will move a team to Morgantown, and says it could have its first season in Morgantown in 2015. The team will share its new ballpark with the WVU baseball team.
The Pirates moved their affiliate from State College to Jamestown this offseason, but that move isn't expected to last long, and the Morgantown team will likely be a Pirates affiliate. This is great for Pirates fans, who will have a rookie-ball affiliate only an hour away, although I've always found it a little odd that there's interest in moving a team in a league that only plays during the summer to a town where no one lives in the summer.
