Once more for emphasis: None of this means anything! At least I hope it doesn't.
Well, no, you know what? It doesn't. The Pirates only managed one hit in a 5-0 defeat by the Phillies Monday, and A.J. Burnett allowed four runs in 1.1 innings. Burnett is about the last player I'd worry about -- I and many others fretted a bit last year when his rehab starts in April didn't go so well, but we all saw how that turned out. Anyway, Kris Johnson and Wandy Rodriguez came on after Burnett left and mostly pitched well.
The offense, though ... ick. Travis Snider's double was the Bucs' only hit.
