Gerrit Cole could debut with Pirates on Tuesday

Michael Sanserino reports that Gerrit Cole could make his Pirates debut on Tuesday. The move follows injuries to Wandy Rodriguez and Jeanmar Gomez. This is surely a little earlier than the Pirates would have preferred to have Cole come up, but only a little, and after a bumpy start to 2013 at Indianapolis, he's pitched well recently. Here's my report after seeing him in Columbus last week.

If Cole stays up, it's not yet clear whether he would have Super Two status, but it looks likely that he wouldn't. That would make him arbitration-eligible after the 2016 season and eligible for free agency after 2019.
