Josh Bell hits two doubles on light day

New, comments

Very light action to report from the farm system, thanks to the rains and the inability of MiLB.com to get DSL results online in a timely fashion. Bradenton and the GCL Pirates were rained out, and Altoona's game was suspended in the first inning. And no results were available for either DSL affiliate.

--Indianapolis lost to Louisville, 5-2. Brooks Brown started in place of Brandon Cumpton, fueling speculation that Cumpton is returning to Pittsburgh. Brown gave up all five runs, four earned, in two and a third innings. Atahualpa Severino threw three and two-thirds scoreless innings. Duke Welker went two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning one. The Indians had 11 hits, but went 2-14 with RISP and stranded ten. Alex Presley, Ivan De Jesus, Jr., Matt Hague and Tony Sanchez each had two hits. Andrew Lambo went 1-3. Zach Duke threw a scoreless inning and two-thirds for Louisville.

-- West Virginia lost to Hagerstown, 6-2. Starter John Kuchno struggled, giving up 11 hits and five runs, four earned, in five innings. Josh Bell went 2-4 with two doubles and Max Moroff went 1-4 with a double. Dilson Herrera also went 1-4, while Barrett Barnes went 0-2 with two walks and two strikeouts.

-- Jamestown beat Mahoning Valley, 1-0, on a one-out, walkoff sacrifice fly by Edwin Espinal in the bottom of the 9th. The flyball drove in Jin-De Jhang, who had singled and gone to third on a Danny Collins double. Jhang and Michael Fransoso, who's now hitting .366, each went 2-3. Jackson Lodge, Axel Diaz and Kevin Kleis combined on the shutout.
